How to preach gospel to Hindus

I.  General information

Hinduism is one of ancient religions in the world, which is supposed to have developed about 5000 years ago. Hinduism is a colorful religion with a vast gallery of gods and Goddesses(goddesses).Most Hindus are found in Asian countries.  In Asia, Among those who believe in Hindus, a vast majority of whom come from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, etc.

A.Background:

Hinduism has over 1 billion adherents worldwide (15% of world’s population).Along with Christianity (31.5%), Islam (23.2%) and Buddhism (7.1%), Hinduism is one of the four major religions in the world with regard to the percentage of population.The countries with more than 500,000 Hindu residents and citizens include (in (a)decreasing order) – India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, United States, Trinidad & Tobago, Malaysia, Myanmar, United Kingdom and South Africa.

In order to preach gospel, we must understand the religious and cultural background of the gospel friends.

a.In terms of population, among the people worldwide, one in seven is an India(Hindu). The Hindu (Hinduism) is the third greatest religion in the world in the aspect of  the population.

b.The main characteristic of Hinduism is that they can integrate and mix various of thoughts and ideas. The core idea of Hinduism, such as reincarnation, karma (reincarnation) (karma), yoga (yoga) dharma (ethical duty), samsara (cycle of reincarnation), karma (cause and effect of actions), and moksha (salvation by more than one path).

c.Hindus traditionally possessing a triune view of god: Brahma the creator god; Vishnu the preserver god; and Shiva, the destroyer god. Almost all of the over 300 million Hindu gods can be traced back to one of these three aspects of god, The goal of a Hindu’s life is to build up enough good karma to attain freedom from samsara and join with god.

2. The Hindu view towards God

a. “Monotheism (monotheism)”, refers to the belief that one God exists, or is that only the God (is)known as the “a” or “Brahman”.

b. “Polytheism” means the belief or worship of many gods. The compatibility of a Hindu God and God’s thoughts, based on the existence of Brahman in the three aspects of the show (manifestation), three aspects of the formation of the Hindu god Brahma, the first is the (Brahma), second (Vishnu) (is)of Vishnu, Shiva (third Shiva), “Trinity” (Trimurti) “.

c. Pantheism (pantheism) “, signifies that everything in the world is God, nature and God. Early Hindu classics such as “the Vedas” mentioning the many gods, most of them are natural phenomena such as the incarnation of the storm, water, fire, and water, fire, wind, the sun god. There are a variety of animal worships mainly including the elephant headed God, god hanuman, ox, snake god.

B.Taboo:

1.The biggest taboo in the Hindu religion is the prohibition of eating beef. Cows can never be killed or eaten in Hindu culture because these animals are considered as holy symbols of life , care, selflessness and more.

2.Don’t touch a child’s head, because the Indians believe the head is sacred.

3.Avoiding use of the left hand. Activities which involve giving and or receiving should not be undertaken with the left hand.Because the left hand is considered unclean.

4.Public preaching is prohibited. Its a trend for many people and religions to hold open crusades while other people desire to preach to others in public. In India, this is discouraged especially to tourists touring the countries. Indian(s)  strictly follow their culture and strongly rooted in their faith.

II. Proper Approach

A. Human care

1.Inviting them for meal-providing Indian cuisine.

Indian traditional Food-totally spicy, even basmati rice-checking first that they are vegetarians or non-vegetarians. If they are vegetarians, all the food relating to the meal )need to be vegetarian. if they are non-vegetarian, usually chicken, fish, or mutton can be prepared as food(don’t serve ,even mention-beef, or pork)

2.Contacting them with a definite time per week through Phone,Facebook, and Wechat etc.

3.Learn(ing) how to play cricket then play with them.

B.Making friends first, not beginning with the topic of religion, which then mentioning little by little. Confirm if they are really open.

1. Making a connection with each other two or three times a week.

2.Asking them questions.“How about your religion?” or “What is your faith?”

3.Touch(ing) their sense of emptiness, sense of guilty, sense of vanity. “ Are you really satisfied?”- The Mystery of Human Life

4.Telling them to pray for them.“I will pray for you”

5.Maybe after 2-3 months, proceeding to the solid gospel preaching.

III.Prepare(Preparing) messages of Gospel (gospel)- Isa. 45:5; 1 Tim 1:17; Psa 115:4-7; 135:15-17

A.One unique God-Life lessons

1.“I am Jehovah, and there is none else, there is no God beside me”.-Isa 45:5

2.Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world and that there is no God but one.-1 Corinthians 8:4-6

B.Judicial redemption — The mystery of human life

1.Christ is the Savior sent from God to the world to solve the problems of human life.

2.As the Lamb of God, He died to take away man’s sin.-John 1:29

3.As a grain of wheat, He died to release the divine life.-John 12:24

C.Divine life, life fountain from within-John 6:57; 14:6

1.Jesus said to him, I am the way and the reality and the life.

2.As the living Father has sent Me and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also shall live because of Me.

IV.Focus – “Touch(ing) their Spirit”

A.God is Spirit. -John 4:24

“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truthfulness. “

B.We have a spirit. – 1 Thessalonians 5:23

1.Calling upon the name of the Lord-Roman 10:13

a.Being a Christian is an open matter. God requires that your heart believe and that your mouth confess.“whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

b.If your heart does not believe, you cannot be saved.If your mouth does not confess, neither can you be saved. But:“…if you confess with your mouth, Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from among the dead, you shall be saved.”

2.Baptized – Bring them to God’s Kingdom-Mark 16:16; John 3:5

“He who believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he who does not believe shall be condemned.”

a. Baptism is a testimony before men. All believers should be baptized in order to be saved not only before God, but also before men.

b.Through baptism, God transfers us from the kingdom of Satan into the kingdom of God. For this reason, the Lord Jesus said:“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a man is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”

C.Testimony

1.Being a fallen man who had no hope and without God in the world before baptized. -Ephesians 2:12

2.After baptized full of joy and peace. -Galatians 5:22

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace…”

3.Being the son of God and receiving the blessing and promise of Spirit through faith.-Galatians 2:14

V.Shepherding and perfecting

A.Blending with new believers in all kinds of methods.

1.Through prevailing prayer and being filled with Spirit.

2.Shepherding them via smart phone, Facebook.Establishing a gospel group with friends by Messenger of Facebook, sending messages concerning gospel questions.

3.Singing hymns.

4.Drink(ing) tea, shopping, BBQ(don’t serve ,even mention-beef, or pork), etc.

B.Home meeting- 2 times a week. -Life lessons ;The gospel of John; Roman

1.Pray(ing) with companions at (a)definite time  according to their situation and pray for them.

2.Making certain messages and prepare(ing) sufficiently.-NB 12 lessons-English;NT-one Chapter per Week

3.Determining a specific time for visiting them 2 times a week.

4.Teaching them how to use their spirit to contact the Lord in the meeting.

5.Summarizing shortcomings to improve them, with full of thanksgiving and praise toward the Lord.

6.Praying with them everyday.

C.Group meeting -96 Lessons-English ;Life lessons,365 I-VII

1.Inviting their relatives and kinsmen to attend meeting.

2.Inspiring their organic function in the group.

3.Conveying the burden to them and accompanying them to prepare for messages.

5.Encouraging them to share their enjoyment and inspiring their organic function in the group.

6.In their daily living, leading them to experience what they learned in the meeting.

D.Perfecting them to be functioning members. -Ephesians 4:12

1.Having MR with them three months – MR for New believers

2.Inviting them to attend church meetings.

3.Prophesying in Lord’s meeting.

4.Preaching gospel together and taking of two or three New believers.

5.Participating in the church service.
