Transformation is the inner change of believers’ disposition by God’s life, and in Lee’s thought that very transforming work is the **means** and **material** of the church’s organic building.
### 1. Transformation as metabolic change
– Lee defines transformation as a “metabolic process” in which God’s life and essence are added into us and our old natural element is discharged, changing us “from our natural image to the glorious image of the Divine Trinity” (2 Cor 3:18).[1][2]
– This is not outward correction but inward dispositional change by the Spirit anointing and saturating our inner being, especially as we contact the Lord in the Word and by calling on His name.[2][3]
### 2. Transformation produces buildable “material”
– He reads the New Jerusalem’s jasper wall and precious stones as a picture: fallen people become “precious stones” for God’s building through regeneration and ongoing transformation.[4][5]
– In this view, transformation and building are inseparable: “both the building and transformation are by the same transforming and building Spirit… no transformation, no building.”[5]
### 3. From transformed persons to corporate building
– As believers are transformed, they grow in life; this growth is what actually constitutes the building up of the Body—“this growth is the building up of the Body of Christ.”[1][2]
– The Spirit’s transforming work joins and knits believers together so that, growing together, they become a coordinated, corporate entity; mere outward coordination without transformation will not last.[6][7][5]
### 4. Practical outworking
– Practically, Lee connects transformation to daily enjoyment of Christ as Spirit and Word: eating and drinking Christ supplies the divine essence, which builds us individually and corporately.[7][8][2]
– Thus every advance in transformation (renewed mind, subdued will, softened emotion, dealt‑with peculiarities) removes obstacles to being “joined and knitted together” and directly advances the organic building of the church as Christ’s Body, on the way to the New Jerusalem.[8][5][6][7]
